One of my clients needs to manipulate images in order to re-size them for his website and does not have software for this task. After several minutes of searching on the internet, I found a GNU licensed, meaning ‘open source’, application that runs on your desktop on many operating systems.
This application is called GIMP and can be downloaded at www.gimp.org free of charge, although donations are accepted. It has several other capabilities including photo re-touching besides image re-sizing.
Just a note for re-sizing an image on GIMP. First open the image file, then select the ‘Image’ menu option and then select the ‘Scale Image’ option from the drop-down menu.
